City of Cedarburg Turns Surplus into Emergency “Lighting Truck”
In December of 1998, Cedarburg Emergency Government received a 6×6 truck from the Federal Property Program for $2,900. The truck now serves as a “lighting” truck. It mounts a 25kw generator, several auxiliary generators, and seven huge floodlights. Volunteer members put in about 500 hours of time and effort to completely strip down the truck, repaint it, and replace the equipment on it. The total cost for this project came to about $4,500. It would be hard to guess what a new truck would have cost the City of Cedarburg.
